Welcome To The Haynes Arms

We Sincerely Hope You Enjoy Your Visit

The Haynes Arms takes its name from the Haynes family, made rich in the 18th century from the Barbados Rum trade.

Bought by them in 1838 it consisted of a small hostelry, stables and Blacksmith shop located on the very busy York - Newcastle turnpike and has enjoyed continuous history of trading for over 300 years

The Present owner wishing to keep the old tradition of cheery hospitality to the weary traveller has created a comfortable lounge in the Blacksmith shop and intimate candlelit restaurant in the stables, sure to please the palate of the most jaded traveller, be he local or from far afield!
